Visit the Clynelish Distillery
Just a short journey from the Royal Marine Hotel, the Clynelish Distillery invites you to step into the rich heritage and distinctive flavours of the Northern Highlands. Originally established in 1819 by the Marquess of Stafford, the distillery has evolved over two centuries into one of Scotland’s most intriguing whisky destinations.
Today’s Clynelish Distillery, nestled beside its historic Brora counterpart, has been producing its signature Highland malt since 1969. Still using locally malted barley and water sourced from the Clynemilton Burn, it carries forward traditions of craftsmanship in every drop.
Now one of the Four Corners of Johnnie Walker, Clynelish is renowned for its uniquely waxy character and notes of tropical fruit and honey—a true taste of coastal Sutherland. We are delighted to have Clynelish available for you in our Megan Boyd Bar at the Royal Marine Hotel.
Enjoy a guided tour to uncover the secrets behind this iconic whisky, or simply drop into the stylish retail store and bar. Whether you're sipping a world-class cocktail, sampling a dram, or sharing a platter of locally sourced fare, the warm Highland welcome and stunning sea views make Clynelish a must-visit during your stay.
Advance booking is recommended for tours, but walk-ins are always welcome in the bar and shop.
